C'est pas moi, je le jure! (2008)

This is a terrific film coming out of Canada (Québec) - and for once, it's both great and not an art flick. While it is primarily a drama, there is plenty of laughter to be had which makes C'est pas moi, je le jure! very well-rounded

The story follows a boy, Léon, who is a pathological liar and who regularly puts his life into grave danger. His parents fight continuously and when his mother flees to Greece to live a bohemian life, Léon begins his downward spiral.

There are many aspects of this film that are superb. First and foremost, the children's acting was filled with innocence and pathos. Patrick Watson delivers a gorgeous musical soundtrack which is definitely worth noting. The cinematography, costumes and sets all bring about a powerful nostalgic feel. I certainly won't miss anything else that director Philippe Falardeau puts out.
