The Girlfriend Experience (2009)

Director Steven Soderbergh presents yet another mildly experimental film. This time he tackles relationships and vulnerability.

A young call girl markets herself as not only a provider of carnal pleasures but also as a thinking, listening date that her clients can hire repeatedly and maintain a pseudo relationship with. She also maintains a real relationship with her entrepreneur boyfriend.

Because this is really not built on a standard narrative style, there isn't a lot of tension, but more expository through an interview the call girl is given from a reporter. I enjoyed the clear resolution that relationships can't be bought. I wasn't impressed with the girls services as she also was the most boring person I could imagine spending time with.
