Revolutionary Road (2008)

This stunning film helps viewers see present condition materialism in its 1950's roots. It also helps to watch it in this somewhat detached way.

Frank and April find themselves angry and dissatisfied with their post WWII suburban existence. A plan to escape to another life is hatched only to be challenged on several levels. Their house symbolically sits along Revolutionary Road - a nod to the American founding fathers and the American dream. The house also houses the epic horrors of the absence of purpose.

Acting in the film are two heavyweights (DiCaprio and Winslet), but notice should be given to the oracle in the film - Michael Shannon - fantastic!
