Smart People (2008)

Smart People is about people who are too smart for their own good and boasts a popular cast.

A university professor who is still dealing with his wife's death and two genius teenage children at home begins a romance and deals with his do nothing adopted brother. The tension in the film seems to come from the outside and not enough from the inside - this tends to keep the protagonist from being terribly important to us.

While the film probably achieves much of what it set out to do, it isn't as affecting as other family dramas out there, but it's not terrible - especially with Thomas Haden Church giving a humane performance with real pathos.
